I spend most of my time working in my home studio where I edit, sample, and work electronically. I keep things simple here, having couple of high end PC's, a couple of decent microphones, a Toft front end preamp/compressor/EQ and a Tannoy monitoring system. I use Reason, Sound Forge, Sonar and Vegas most often. I also have a MIDI rig, and a bizarre collection of vintage keyboards, my Hohner Clavinet being my current favourite.

To the left is Orcana Recording Studios.. It's a huge high long third floor walkup in Hamilton, Ontario's colourful downtown core. The lack of a control room makes wearing multiple hats easy, and puts the producer "on the floor" with the artist. The pictures at the left give you an idea of the space. Since I've been mixing more and more in the box, even a modest studio seems to be overkill and overspend. I enjoy the guerilla feel, yet the studio has all the right gear (Digidesign, Focusrite, Tannoy, AEA, RCA, URIE, Soundcraft) to capture quality sound.

My mantra has always been, "It's not what you've got, it's what you do with it". Unless there's a budget...then you can rent it.
